Synulox RTU Injectable – Amoxicillin & Clavulanic Acid Suspension (100ml)

Synulox RTU is a ready-to-use injectable antibacterial suspension manufactured by Zoetis, containing 140 mg amoxicillin (as trihydrate) and 35 mg clavulanic acid per ml. Known as Clavamox in the United States, Synulox is one of the most widely trusted veterinary antibiotics worldwide for treating bacterial infections across multiple species.

How It Works

Amoxicillin is a broad-spectrum semi-synthetic penicillin with rapid bactericidal action against many gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Clavulanic acid protects amoxicillin by inactivating beta-lactamase enzymes produced by resistant bacteria, effectively restoring their sensitivity to treatment. Together, this combination provides reliable efficacy even against beta-lactamase-producing strains.

Both active ingredients share similar pharmacokinetic properties — they are rapidly and well distributed throughout the body, reaching high concentrations in muscle, liver, kidney, and intestinal tissues, with low binding to plasma proteins.

Indications and Target Species

Dogs and Cats:
Treatment of bacterial infections of the skin and soft tissues (abscesses, pyoderma, wound infections), respiratory tract, urogenital system, and gastrointestinal tract caused by organisms sensitive to amoxicillin and clavulanic acid.

Cattle:
Treatment of respiratory infections, soft tissue infections, urogenital infections, and bacterial complications sensitive to the amoxicillin/clavulanic acid combination.

Pigs:
Treatment of respiratory and soft tissue infections caused by susceptible bacteria.

Dosage and Administration

Administer at a dose of 0.5 ml per 10 kg body weight per day (equivalent to 8.75 mg amoxicillin/clavulanic acid per kg body weight).

• Dogs and Cats: Intramuscular or subcutaneous injection.
• Cattle: Intramuscular injection, alternating injection sites on each side of the animal.
• Pigs: Intramuscular injection.

Do not prolong the treatment beyond 3–5 days. Shake the vial well before use to ensure a uniform suspension.

Contraindications and Safety

• Do not administer to animals with a known allergy or hypersensitivity to beta-lactam antibiotics (penicillins, cephalosporins).
• Do not use in rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, or gerbils.
• Do not administer together with bacteriostatic antibiotics (tetracyclines, chloramphenicol, sulphonamides).
• Sensitisation reactions may occur, ranging from mild urticaria to anaphylactic shock in rare cases.

• Cattle (meat): 54 days
• Pigs (meat): 27 days
• Milk: 2 days
