Draxxin 25 mg/ml is a clear, ready-to-use injectable solution containing 25 mg/ml of tulathromycin, a semi-synthetic macrolide antibiotic of the triamilide subclass. This lower-concentration formulation is specifically designed for precise dosing in pigs, making it particularly suitable for treating younger or smaller swine where accurate dose calculation is critical. One single injection provides long-lasting action, reducing the need for repeat treatments.

Indications – Swine Respiratory Disease (SRD)

Draxxin 25 mg/ml is indicated for the treatment and metaphylaxis of swine respiratory disease (SRD) associated with the following bacteria sensitive to tulathromycin:

• Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae
• Pasteurella multocida
• Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae
• Haemophilus parasuis
• Bordetella bronchiseptica

Metaphylactic treatment should only be initiated when the presence of SRD has been established in the herd and pigs are expected to develop the disease within 2–3 days. Draxxin can be used to treat diseased animals as well as clinically healthy animals in close contact, helping to prevent further spread of SRD within the group.

Dosage and Administration

Administer a single intramuscular injection of 2.5 mg tulathromycin per kg body weight (equivalent to 1 ml per 10 kg body weight at the 25 mg/ml concentration) in the neck.

• For pigs over 80 kg body weight, divide the dose so that no more than 2 ml is injected at any one site.
• Use a sterile needle and syringe for each injection.
• Rotate injection sites to minimise tissue irritation.

It is recommended to treat animals in the early stages of the disease and evaluate the response within 48 hours after injection. If clinical signs persist or worsen, or if relapse occurs, consult a veterinarian for alternative treatment options.

• The effects of Draxxin on porcine reproductive performance, pregnancy, and lactation have not been fully determined.
• Intramuscular injection may cause a transient local tissue reaction that could result in trim loss of edible tissue at slaughter.
