Special warnings for each type of animal for which the VMP is intended
Treatment prevents the spread of Isospora infection but is not effective against symptoms (eg diarrhea) in already infected animals. It may be necessary to appoint maintenance treatment (from veterinary
Physician) in animals with diarrhea. Isospora oocysts are resistant to many disinfectants and can survive for a long time in the surrounding environment. Rapid removal of stools before sporulation of oocysts (within 12 hours) reduces the likelihood of transmission of the infection. All dogs in the group threatened by infection should be treated at the same time.
Special precautions for use in animals
It is not recommended to use Procox in cats or related breeds, carriers or suspected to carry mdr1 mutation – / – because the tolerance to the product in puppies carrying mdr1 mutation – / – is shown to be lower than that of other cats. As with any antiparasitic product, frequent and prolonged use may cause development of resistance. An appropriate course of treatment prescribed by a veterinarian will ensure adequate parasite control and reduce the likelihood of resistance. There is limited experience in severely exhausted dogs and in dogs with severely impaired kidney or liver function. Please tell your veterinarian if your dog suffers from any of these conditions.
